Technical Lead Engineer, Municipal Power Consulting

Technical Lead Engineer, Municipal Power Consulting

Position Summary

The Technical Lead Engineer will consult with and manage our Municipal and Public Power clients. The Technical Lead Engineer will work closely with Engineering Management to establish new clients and accounts. The Technical Lead Engineer will lead projects and conduct engineering staff for the client projects they are responsible for.

Responsibilities

The Technical Lead Engineer must have direct experience with Distribution System Planning and Distribution Systems. Familiarity with substation project engineering and system protection is also required.

Demonstrated ability as a consulting engineer to determine project scope, establish budget, develop project plan and schedule as a partner with our Municipal and Public Power clients.

The Lead Engineer will develop and establishing new client relationships and maintaining existing client accounts.

Must be comfortable with calling on new customers and being commercially responsible for the account as you establish new opportunities working with the customer as a solution partner.

Proposal writing, establishing budgets and schedules with customers in a collaborative environment is essential. A high level of customer service is expected with ability to solicit feedback and be highly responsive to customer needs.

Project Management skills and understanding of project controls, change management, and engineering is required. Must be an outgoing team player with the ability to provide client confidence.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering; Power Engineering

Professional Engineer License and NCEES Certification

A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in the electric utility industry is required.

Two (2) or more years’ experience in project leadership role, consulting role, or business development role is preferred.

Utility operations and construction experience is preferred.

Demonstrated leadership ability and high level of business and engineering ethics.

Communicate as needed with clients to ensure positive client experience.

Ability to work in the United States without a sponsor.

Lead Substation Engineer

ControlPoint Technologies is seeking a Lead Substation Engineer to support our Substation Engineering team.

The position will include project engineering and design of substation projects for electric utility transmission and distribution systems.

Must have proven knowledge of electric utility substation projects from the planning stages, through detailed design and construction.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation, development, and modification of one and three line diagrams, protective relaying & control schematic/elementary drawings, AC & DC schematics, wiring diagrams, panel front views, cable & conduit schedules, and bills of material according to applicable Utility Client Procedures.
  • Develop Substation general arrangement drawings, grounding details, conduit drawings, and construction specifications.
  • Support engineering and design related to Civil / Structural; including structural drawings, foundation drawings, foundation and steel calculations.
  • Ability to perform quality assurance reviews of Substation project documentation.
  • Responsibility to learn, understand and adhere to all Utility Client Procedures, including CAD and documentation formatting. Candidate will be thoroughly trained in all client standards & procedures.

ControlPoint Technologies is seeking a Senior Distribution Designer to provide project support within our Distribution Design & Field Engineering team.

The position will include project design, field inspection, and work order management of overhead and underground distribution projects for electric utility distribution systems.

A Senior Distribution Designer at ControlPoint provides design leadership for complex distribution projects. Must have proven knowledge of electric utility distribution systems and projects from the field planning stages, through detailed design and construction. Expertise in power utility standards, distribution overhead facilities, distribution underground facilities, and power utility operations is required.

Substation Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced substation project manager with a background in the engineering and design of Substations. The position will include project engineering, project supervision, and management of all design projects associated with substation project construction and upgrades. 

A BSEE is required (PE Preferred) with a background in electrical utility / power systems engineering and design.  Position will require client interface, engineering and design experience, project administration and excellent communication skills.  Full time and Part time positions available.
